Yes i fully believe in ‘start as you mean to go on‘ (well when it suits 😉 )
As the blog will be about all sorts of things to do with me not just the wheelie bins i think its rather fitting the second post is a bit more random.
*there would only be so many posts about wheeliebins before you all threw me in one so its a wise choice from my point of view!
Where to start, ahhh yes that man … Jason Vale.
To some a lifestyle guru … to me, the man that has made me eat more vegetables in the last week than i have all year quite possibly.
Innocently when i was first told about this by one of you i was picturing days of drinking lovely fruit smoothies. It seems the world of juicing is organised than that.
After a trip to Waterstones, Worcester and landing upon a bargain i picked up his latest book ‘Super Juice Me‘. A simple to follow (in theory) 28 day juicing plan, and like all intelligent people skipped right through it to the section marked ‘shopping list’.
Its been a week since i raided the farm shop just before closing time with the book in hand, rushing around trying to grab everything. Ive learnt all about juicing, what ‘Fennel’ is and that 3cm of ginger tastes rather strong in this last week.
I still know i like pineapple, and i still know that i dont like celery … at all!
But its been an interesting experience so far. Normally unless the nephews are around i dont get further than potatoes and peas on my plate in the vegetable section (well i have to try and set a good example every now and then – much to my sisters delight as i try to smile while eating the carrots).
Ive consumed everything from limes to spinich …. and being honest, i have so far not liked one of the drinks!
Im sure some people out there will enjoy them (and im equally sure one of them would have tasted so much nicer if i had not put to much ginger in) and the selection is really quite good! Two new drinks every day for 14 days (i do wonder if the theory there is by the 15th day you will have forgotten what the drinks were like on day 1 were like though).
Its not all been plain sailing, with weekends and birthdays the first week was never going to be a clean sweep so ive fallen off the juice wagon a few times – okay maybe jumped off the juice wagon as soon as i could is a more accurate statement
…. but i will persist in this crazy (for a person that doesnt eat veg i think this counts as crazy) madness.
28 days might take me a while to get to but i shall get there in the end!
(and then i will go and grab a burger to celebrate!)
… thank you Jason Vale!
